My New Favorite Things is a very old favorite thing of mine. Way back in the stone age of computing, 1981 when I had an Apple 2+ computer there was a game called Serpentine by a company called Borderbund Software.Anyhow... being a 13 year old zit pocked face computer geek and having just moved from NYC to Cleveland Ohio I spent a LOT of time playing this game... and I do mean a LOT. Anyhow... a few weeks ago I was nostalgically searching Google when I stumbled across Spoonbill Software and their totally cool remake for the PC!!! :) Whats even better is not only did they duplicate the game in it's entirity, but they also created some new maps, a map editor, I might be wrong where but I don't remember there being a map editor in the Apple version... and new music!!! Game play is identical to the old version. The object is pretty simple... you are a blue snake and you try eating the other orange snakes of which there are usually three on the board. Eating them requires that you get behind them and eat bits of their tail. Once you have eaten enough segments off the other snakes those snakes turn green. Once green you can eat them either forwards or backwards. If you eat the green snakes head on you gain a segment. The game takes place in a maze and every once in awhile there's a "power frog" that comes out. Eating the frog gives you an extra segment. Extra snakes are gained when you lay an egg and finish the leve (eat all the other snakes).
Looking back at the amount of games I had as a kid this one was by far the one which took up most of my time. It was the best $29.95 I ever spent on an action game. Even today I think I'd plunk down another $29.95 and this remake is well worth it but Spoon Bill software isn't charging for the game. All they ask for it is for you to send them an email! Amazing! Since I got this version I have been playing nearly every chance I get. Sure I should be working on my "super secret project" or cleaning my office or actually doing work for the company... by this is just to addictive!|||112355515525255460|||My New Real Old Favorite thing
